{"id":18400,"date":"2023-05-02T13:41:29","date_gmt":"2023-05-02T07:56:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=18400"},"modified":"2023-05-02T13:41:29","modified_gmt":"2023-05-02T07:56:29","slug":"former-mp-rai-arrested-for-sending-nepalis-to-us-as-bhutanese-refugees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=18400","title":{"rendered":"Former MP Rai arrested for sending Nepalis to US as Bhutanese refugees"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>KATHMANDU &#8211;<\/strong> Police have arrested former parliamentarian Indrajit Rai for his involvement in sending Nepalis to the United States in the guise of Bhutanese refugee.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rai was nabbed from Saukhel in Lalitpur today morning, according to Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Minbhawan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr Manoj Kumar KC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Arrested Rai, who also served as a security advisor to the then Minister of Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa, has now been kept at Police Range, Kathmandu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Police held him after news about Rai&#8217;s involvement in sending Nepalis to the USA in the guise of Bhutanese refugee was published and broadcasted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier police arrested five people on the same charge.
