KATHMANDU – The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court against the Special Court\u2019s ruling in the excise sticker corruption case, which involved irregularities in the printing process through the Security Printing Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CIAA charged former Communication and Information Technology Secretary Dr. Baikuntha Aryal and 11 others under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059, accusing them of deliberately causing financial loss to the state. The commission had sought recovery of Rs. 386.7 million, of which Rs. 68.4 million has been settled, and demanded restitution of the remaining amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Mangsir 13, 2081, the Special Court delivered a partial verdict, convicting some defendants while acquitting others. Dissatisfied with the ruling, the CIAA registered its appeal at the Supreme Court on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
