KATHMANDU – <\/strong>Kathmandu Valley Police has launched a campaign for peaceful and disturbance-free neighborhoods, issuing a set of rules and recommendations that may seem unusual to city residents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police say the initiative is in response to increasing noise pollution from various human activities in the city, which can adversely affect pregnant women, children, and the elderly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The notice advises people to use headphones during late-night phone calls or to communicate via messages. It prohibits loud conversations late at night, making loud noises in the kitchen, knocking on gates or ringing doorbells at night, and playing loud music or dancing late into the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, it requests people not to cough or spit unnecessarily during morning routines, to open gates quietly, and to avoid starting motorcycles or other vehicles noisily early in the morning. It also urges residents not to blow the whistle on pressure cookers early in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police have also stated that individuals or institutions causing noise pollution may be fined up to 300,000 rupees by the concerned authority.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
