KATHMANDU – Minister for Information and Communications, Dr Bikram Timilsina, has made it clear that the government has no intension to curtail the press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, responding to queries related to his ministry raised by lawmakers during different meetings of the House, Minister Dr Timilsina argued that the government is fully committed to press freedom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The Constitution has given rights of press freedom. No one can restrain this right, but press freedom cannot be liberty itself. Press should maintain its dignity and boundaries,” he underscored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister Dr Timilsina added, “The government cannot do anything it wants if the press maintains its dignity and boundaries. So I urge journalism sector to work being confident, and maintaining its dignity and boundaries.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
