Kathmandu [Nepal], July 17 – Nepal\u2019s government fell short of its revenue collection and expenditure targets in the last fiscal year, with budget implementation remaining below expectations, according to data from the Financial Comptroller General Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government achieved 83.51 percent of its revenue target while total expenditure stood at 80.55 percent of the allocated budget during the fiscal year 2025-26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The government had allocated a total budget of Rs 1.964 trillion for the fiscal year. However, only Rs 1.582 trillion was spent by the end of the fiscal year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Capital expenditure remained the weakest area of budget implementation. The government spent Rs 190.84 billion under the capital expenditure heading, only 46.79 percent of the allocated Rs 477.88 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Current expenditure performed better, with the government spending Rs 1.043 trillion or 88.4 percent of the allocated Rs 1.180 trillion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under fiscal management, the government spent Rs 347.33 billion, accounting for 92.56 percent of the allocated Rs 375.24 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the revenue side, the government had set a target of collecting Rs 1.533 trillion but collected only Rs 1.280 trillion, meeting 83.51 percent of the target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Foreign grant mobilisation also remained below expectations. Against a target of Rs 53.44 billion, the government received only Rs 31.26 billion, equivalent to 58.5 percent of the target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
