Washington [US], August 8 – <\/strong>US President Donald Trump is facing growing pressure to consider concessions in negotiations with Iran aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route that carries about 20% of the world’s oil supply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although officials on both sides say an agreement is nearing completion a key dispute remains unresolved. The Trump administration has rejected any deal that would grant Iran lasting control over the strategic waterway or allow Tehran to collect transit fees. Iran however, insists the strait cannot return to its pre-war status as a fully open international passage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Analysts say the prolonged conflict has increased economic and political pressure on the White House. Rising energy costs, concerns over US weapons stockpiles and public dissatisfaction with the war have intensified scrutiny of Trump’s strategy. Former US officials suggested these pressures could push the administration towards a compromise despite potential geopolitical consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump has dismissed concerns over declining military inventories, insisting the United States retains substantial weapons supplies while seeking additional defence funding. He has also maintained that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains partially operational despite ongoing security risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
