{"id":29782,"date":"2026-08-12T16:05:50","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T10:20:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=29782"},"modified":"2026-08-12T16:05:57","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T10:20:57","slug":"nepal-tunnel-adopts-cashless-toll-payment-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=29782","title":{"rendered":"Nepal tunnel adopts cashless toll payment system"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Kathmandu [Nepal], August 12 &#8211;<\/strong> Nagdhunga\u2013Sisnekhola Tunnel is set to introduce a cashless toll collection system after the Federation of Nepal Truck Transport Entrepreneurs (FNTTE) and Sanima Bank signed an agreement to digitize vehicle fee payments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the agreement, tolls will be collected through a radio-frequency identification (RFID) system while truck operators and other motorists will also be able to pay using QR codes. The initiative aims to eliminate cash transactions, speed up vehicle movement and improve transparency in toll collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The agreement was signed by FNTTE President Rajendra Bikram Baniya and Hem Raj Sanjyal, Chief Deposit Officer of Sanima Bank representing their respective institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government had earlier approved toll charges for vehicles using the Nagdhunga Tunnel under the Roads Board Act with the Ministry of Infrastructure Development publishing the fee structure in the Nepal Gazette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cars, vans, pick-ups, tractors and other light vehicles will pay Rs 65 when entering Kathmandu and Rs 60 when exiting.
