{"id":29819,"date":"2026-08-16T15:17:59","date_gmt":"2026-08-16T09:32:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=29819"},"modified":"2026-08-16T15:18:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-16T09:33:13","slug":"commercial-banks-cut-deposit-rates-further-for-bhadra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=29819","title":{"rendered":"Commercial banks cut deposit rates further for Bhadra"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Kathmandu [Nepal], August 16 &#8211;<\/strong> Nepal\u2019s commercial banks have further reduced deposit interest rates for the month of Bhadra, reflecting continued downward pressure on returns offered to depositors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of the country\u2019s 20 commercial banks five have lowered their deposit rates while the remaining 15 have kept their Shrawan rates unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The average maximum interest rate on individual deposits has fallen to 4.136 percent in Bhadra from 4.1675 percent previously. Meanwhile, the average interest rate on institutional deposits has remained unchanged at 3.081 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the five banks cutting rates, Siddhartha Bank made the largest reduction lowering its individual deposit rate by 0.29 percentage points to 3.76 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nepal Bank has set its individual deposit rate at 4.15 percent while Citizens Bank has reduced its rate to 3.85 percent. Kumari Bank and Standard Chartered Bank have set rates at 3.76 percent and 3.80 percent respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the higher end of the market Nabil Bank and Prabhu Bank are offering the highest individual deposit rate among the commercial banks at 4.55 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest adjustments mean depositors are receiving slightly lower returns on their savings compared with the previous month.
