{"id":3091,"date":"2020-10-15T16:49:33","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T11:04:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=3091"},"modified":"2020-10-15T16:49:33","modified_gmt":"2020-10-15T11:04:33","slug":"public-vehicles-flouting-order-to-switch-to-old-transport-fare-adjustment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=3091","title":{"rendered":"Public vehicles flouting order to switch to old transport fare adjustment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>KATHMANDU :<\/strong> The government&#8217;s direction for public vehicles to switch to the old transport fare adjustment has yet to be implemented.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A Cabinet meeting on October 12 had decided that public vehicles could have passengers as per their seat capacity and the transport fare has been retained as the fare adjustment on September 23, 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier, the government in view of global COVID-19 pandemic had asked public vehicles to follow health and safety guidelines and to limit the number of passenger numbers to and charge them a 50 percent higher fare.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In violation of the Cabinet\u2019s decision, public vehicles operating in the Kathmandu Valley have been found to have charged higher fare. For an instance, according to a passenger Prem Bahadur Thapa, City Yatayat (Ba 2 Kha 1204) running at Ring Road route charged him Rs 25 for travelling four kilometers, which is against the Rs 14 set by the government as per the fare adjustment on September 23, 2018 for travelling the same distance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When asked, Rameshwor Prasad Yadav, Spokesperson for the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division said they were yet to receive the order in writing. As a result, they were finding it difficult to implement the decision, he added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, the vehicles charging more than 50 percent fare have faced action, said the Division. On Wednesday, 42 public vehicles in the Valley charging more than a 50 percent fare faced action, it said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Information officer at the Department of Transport Management, Dr Lok Nath Bhusal said they could not talk about the matter as they were yet to be informed of the Cabinet decision in writing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATHMANDU : The government&#8217;s direction for public vehicles to switch to the old transport fare adjustment has yet to be implemented.
