{"id":323,"date":"2020-08-10T22:15:34","date_gmt":"2020-08-10T16:30:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=323"},"modified":"2020-08-10T22:15:34","modified_gmt":"2020-08-10T16:30:34","slug":"feasibility-study-of-kathmandu-kerung-railway-project-will-begin-soon-foreign-minister-gyawali","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=323","title":{"rendered":"Feasibility study of Kathmandu-Kerung railway project will begin soon: Foreign Minister Gyawali"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KATHMANDU- <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, has said that the feasibility study of Kathmandu-Kerung railway project will begin soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Addressing a webinar organized by the Tribhuvan University, Foreign Minister Gyawali said that the pre-feasibility survey of the much-awaited cross-border railway project has already been completed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He, however, did not disclose when the feasibility study will start.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Minister Gyawali, Nepal has taken a policy to diversify its connectivity with other countries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFor a landlocked country like Nepal, connectivity is very important. The government\u2019s policy is to diversify the connectivity,\u201d said Foreign Minister Gyawali. \u201cThe pre-feasibility survey of Kathmandu-Kerung [railway project] has already been completed. The feasibility study will begin soon,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cross-border railway connecting Nepal with its northern neighbor is a much-awaited project in Nepal.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Though difficult terrains separate Nepal and China, there would not be any border problem due to the development of technology, he said.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stating that there have been important high-level visits and agreements between Nepal and China in recent time, he said that they have helped in taking China-Nepal relations to a new high.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli\u2019s China trips in 2016 and 2018, Nepal signing up for Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in 2017 and Chinese President Xi Jinping\u2019s Nepal visit were important milestones in Nepal-China relation, according to Minister Gyawali.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe agreement that Nepal and China signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping visit in 2019 has made Nepal and China strategic partners for prosperity and development,\u201d he said, adding that the implementation of the agreement has been a priority for the government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He also expressed worries over the recent trade tension between China and the US as well as dispute between China and India over border issues.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATHMANDU- Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, has said that the feasibility study of Kathmandu-Kerung railway project will begin soon.
