{"id":3503,"date":"2020-11-06T17:14:06","date_gmt":"2020-11-06T11:29:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=3503"},"modified":"2020-11-06T17:14:44","modified_gmt":"2020-11-06T11:29:44","slug":"govt-prepares-to-table-proposal-in-cabinet-meeting-to-provide-pcr-tests-coronavirus-treatment-free-of-cost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=3503","title":{"rendered":"Govt prepares to table proposal in cabinet meeting to provide PCR tests, coronavirus treatment free of cost\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KATHMANDU: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) is preparing to table a proposal at the cabinet meeting to provide PCR tests and treatment for COVID-19 patients free of cost.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Secretary at the MoHP Laxman Aryal said that the Ministry plans to table the proposal, ensuring that PCR tests and treatment of Covid-19 is free in line with the Supreme Court\u2019s recent verdicts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe have to present a proposal at the cabinet meeting to make arrangements in line with the verdict of the Supreme Court after formally receiving the judgement,\u201d said Health Secretary Aryal while speaking at a meeting of the parliament\u2019s Education and Health Committee.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Health Secretary\u2019s statement follows the recent decision of the Supreme Court to quash the government\u2019s petition seeking judicial review of the apex court\u2019s verdict last month, which ordered the government to provide PCR tests to all those who want it, as well as treatment for Covid-19 patients at free of cost.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He said that the government had decided to collect charges from Covid-19 patients after hospitals started to face financial losses. According to Health Secretary Aryal, the government began to charge patients after it faced difficulties in paying salaries to health workers in government hospitals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe have said that we should ask charges with those who can afford the treatment as it was difficult to pay salaries and allowances to health workers in government hospitals,\u201d he said. \u201cThe government had been providing treatment to Covid-19 patients free of cost from the beginning.
