{"id":4073,"date":"2020-12-02T16:06:19","date_gmt":"2020-12-02T10:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=4073"},"modified":"2020-12-02T16:06:19","modified_gmt":"2020-12-02T10:21:19","slug":"uk-authorizes-public-use-of-pfizers-coronavirus-vaccine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=4073","title":{"rendered":"UK authorizes public use of Pfizer\u2019s coronavirus vaccine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>KATHMANDU &#8211;<\/strong> The UK has approved the use of a coronavirus vaccine developed by drugmakers Pfizer and BioNTech.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With the decision of the Britain\u2019s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency to give emergency approval to the Pfizer\/BioNTech vaccine, the UK has become the first Western country to allow mass inoculations against Covid-19 that has claimed over a million lives worldwide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The decision will also allow Britain to become one of the first countries to begin vaccinating its population.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Issuing a statement, the UK\u2019s Department of Health and Social Care said that the vaccine will be made available across the UK from next week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The drug maker Pfizer has said that trials have shown that its coronavirus vaccine was 95 percent effective and had no serious side effects.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to BBC News, the UK has already ordered 40m doses &#8211; enough to vaccinate 20m people, according to BBC News.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Government has today accepted the recommendation from the independent Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to approve Pfizer-BioNTech\u2019s COVID-19 vaccine for use,\u201d read the statement of the department.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis follows months of rigorous clinical trials and a thorough analysis of the data by experts at the MHRA who have concluded that the vaccine has met its strict standards of safety, quality and effectiveness,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATHMANDU &#8211; The UK has approved the use of a coronavirus vaccine developed by drugmakers Pfizer and BioNTech.
