{"id":4358,"date":"2020-12-16T14:25:57","date_gmt":"2020-12-16T08:40:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=4358"},"modified":"2020-12-16T14:25:57","modified_gmt":"2020-12-16T08:40:57","slug":"oli-remains-absent-from-standing-committee-meeting-of-ruling-ncp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=4358","title":{"rendered":"Oli remains absent from standing committee meeting of ruling NCP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>KATHMANDU\u00a0 &#8211; <\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The standing committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has started at the Prime Minister\u2019s official residence Baluwatar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, Prime Minister and Chairman of the NCP KP Sharma Oli remains absent from the meeting.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier before the meeting, Prime Minister Oli and NCP executive chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal \u2018Prachanda\u2019 had held a meeting at the Prime Minister\u2019s residence Baluwatar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The standing committee meeting is expected to see a <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">heated discussio<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n on the recent ordinance to amend the act related to the Constitutional Council introduced by the government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier on Tuesday, the government had issued the ordinance making it easier to hold the meeting of the Constitutional Council even if available majority members are present in the meeting\u00a0 of the six-member council.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The decision of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to introduce the ordinance has not only further irked the rival faction in the party led by Prachanda and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, but also worsened the intra-party disputes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rival faction is preparing to criticize the move and demand an immediate repeal of the ordinance that Prime Minister Oli unilaterally decided to introduce.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the Oli faction had made efforts to postpone the standing committee meeting amid widening intra-party rifts. Earlier on Wednesday morning, Shankar Pokharel, the Chief Minister of Lumbini and a standing committee member close to Prime Minister Oli, had also met Prachanda and urged him to put off the standing committee meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATHMANDU\u00a0 &#8211;
