{"id":4375,"date":"2020-12-16T18:08:56","date_gmt":"2020-12-16T12:23:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=4375"},"modified":"2020-12-16T18:08:56","modified_gmt":"2020-12-16T12:23:56","slug":"pm-oli-attends-standing-committee-meeting-after-agreeing-to-withdraw-ordinance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=4375","title":{"rendered":"PM Oli attends standing committee meeting after agreeing to withdraw ordinance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">KATHMANDU: <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has agreed to withdraw the ordinance that the government had brought on Tuesday to amend the act on Constitutional Council.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the widespread pressure from both within and outside the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Prime Minister Oli has decided to repeal the ordinance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier on Wednesday morning, NCP executive chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal \u2018Prachanda\u2019 met Prime Minister Oli to urge him to withdraw the ordinance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prime Minister Oli agreed to withdraw the ordinance and attend the standing committee meeting of the NCP after the discussion with Prachanda.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the meeting with Oli, Prachanda also agreed to withdraw the letter submitted to the President Bidya Devi Bhandari seeking the special session of the parliament, according to a party leader.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the agreement between party co-chairs, Oli is present in the standing committee meeting that is currently underway at his official residence Baluwatar.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Earlier on Tuesday, the government had issued the ordinance making it easier to hold the meeting of the Constitutional Council even if available majority members are present in the meeting\u00a0 of the six-member council.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The decision of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to introduce the ordinance has not only further irked the rival faction in the party led by Prachanda and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, but also worsened the intra-party disputes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has agreed to withdraw the ordinance that the government had brought on Tuesday to amend the act on Constitutional Council.\u00a0 Following the widespread pressure from both within and outside the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Prime Minister Oli has decided to repeal the ordinance.
