{"id":6430,"date":"2021-03-15T11:22:20","date_gmt":"2021-03-15T05:37:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=6430"},"modified":"2021-03-15T11:22:50","modified_gmt":"2021-03-15T05:37:50","slug":"pm-oli-senior-leader-madhav-nepal-holding-meeting-amid-escalating-tension-in-ruling-cpn-uml","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kathmandupati.com\/?p=6430","title":{"rendered":"PM Oli, Senior Leader Madhav Nepal holding meeting amid escalating tension in ruling CPN (UML)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>KATHMANDU<\/strong> &#8211; Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman and Senior Leader Madhav Kumar Nepal are holding a meeting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The meeting is going to be held at party office Dhumbarahi shortly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Though Prime Minister Oli had invited Senior Leader Nepal to his official residence in Baluwatar, the latter had insisted that he could meet him only at party headquarters in Dhumbarahi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Senior Leader Jhalanath Khanal, General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel, Pradeep Gyawali and Bishnu Paudel, among other leaders are also attending the meeting, said UML\u2019s party secretary Ishwori Rijal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This will be the first meeting between the two leaders after the Prime Minister dissolved the House of Representatives in December last year, leaving the ruling party in the verge of a split.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They had last met on November 10 amid worsening intra party disputes of the then NCP.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, the crisis in the ruling party did not improve after the Prachanda-Nepal-led faction refused to withdraw a political report that included serious allegations against party chairman and Prime Minister Oli of corruption and mishandling of the party.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Leader Nepal had sided with Pushpa Kamal Dahal \u2018Prachanda\u2019 to protest against the government\u2019s move to dissolve the House which was reinstated by the Supreme Court on February 23.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a separate verdict later, the apex court also scrapped the merger between the CPN(UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) to form Nepal Communist Party (NCP).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Senior Leader Nepal along with other leaders of the CPN (UML) had decided to return to the party following the verdict.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, Oli\u2019s decision to appoint new central members and scrap all previous posts except the Chairman and General Secretary had angered the faction led by Senior Leader Nepal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATHMANDU &#8211; Prime Minister and CPN (UML) Chairman and Senior Leader Madhav Kumar Nepal are holding a meeting.
