KATHMANDU- The government has decided to provide a cash relief of Rs 200,000 each to the families of those killed in recent floods and landslides in Sindhupalchowk and Kalikot, among other districts of the country.<\/p>\n
\nEach family that lost a single member will receive a cash relief of Rs 200,000 while an additional Rs 100,000 per deceased will be provided to families with more than one death, according to the cabinet decision.<\/p>\n
\nIn making the decision public on Wednesday, the government\u2019s spokesperson Yuba Raj Khatiwada, stated that the cabinet will also extend condolences and sympathies to the bereaved family members and wish for a rapid recovery of those injured.<\/p>\n
\nFamilies with up to five members that have either lost their shelter or livelihoods will receive Rs 15,000 in cash for assistance in immediate subsistence. For families with more than five members, the relief amount will be Rs 20,000, according to the cabinet decision.<\/p>\n
\nSimilarly, the government also decided to offer a financial support of Rs 100,000 each to families whose houses need rebuilding. In addition to financial support, the government will also provide timber at a concessional rate for those families.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to the cabinet decision, the government will bear all medical expenses of the injured for their treatment at government hospitals and provide Rs 1,000 for their transportation fare in order to return to home after receiving treatment.<\/p>\n
\nIn total, Nepali Congress has provided Rs 4.5 million as financial support for rescue and relief operations across the country.
