High-Powered Committee for Integrated Development Committee of Bagmati Civilization had tried to remove the illegally-constructed structures on public land from many years ago, citing illegally constructed structures have made Bagmati River polluted. The Committee had forwarded activities to remove such structures by issuing a notice in the month of January. At that time, the activity to remove the illegal structure was stopped under the pressure of different groups, but it has now started with the support of KMC, said Information Officer of the Committee, Kamal Aryal. Structures including priest building of Rudreshwor Mahadev, Om Shanti building as well as other structures have been destroyed. Bagmati River Clean-up campaigners have demanded to remove those capturing the land at the river banks in the name of landless.
