KATHMANDU – Skill Week 2023 ended with a splendid closing ceremony amidst a remarkable gathering held at The Soaltee Kathmandu on Sunday, in the presence of renowned entrepreneurs, government diplomats, and 100+ aspirant enthusiasts.

This was the fourth edition of Skill Week organized by Glocal After School, an entity of Glocal Pvt Ltd with an aim to collaborate with Industry, Educators, and Government to engage and promote extensive skilling opportunities and showcase emerging skills.

The ceremony had the presence of Honorable. Rekha Sharma, Minister for information and communication and Honorable. Indira Rana Magar, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives.

Skill Week is a week filled with events, creativity, skills, inspirations, and insights. This was a week earmarked for conducting workshops related to diverse skills, skill-focused competitions, skill shows and exhibitions, the learning hub, and sessions along with several entertainment components making this an infotainment week honoring skill. To do justice to the four core pillars of skill week: Art and Culture, Tourism and Hospitality, Science and Technology, and Entrepreneurship, this edition of skill week was held from 13 March-19 March 2023, and different experts from these fields will be invited to impart their knowledge to the curious youth.

The event had many elements in it. Skill Week comprised of a series of Workshops, Competitions, Exhibitions, Food and Games, Case Study Presentation, Music, and Concerts along with Fun elements. It was basically exploring the world of Skills along with a fun fiesta.

The event highlighted four distinct skill areas i.e. Art and Culture, Entrepreneurship, Tourism and Hospitality, and Science and Technology. Therefore, four veterans were honored with the award of Skill Hero by Glocal After School in the presence of Mr. Thomas Kring, International Labour Organization (ILO).

For the first pillar i.e. Tourism and Hospitality, Chef Santosh Shah, a Nepalese chef based on London was honored as Skill Hero as he has been an influential figure in the field of hospitality.

Likewise, Ms. Seema Golchha was honored for her dedication to the field of Art and Culture. She has mastered the capacity to instill unblemished ideas and approaches in performing the act of ventriloquism for younger generations. In the Entrepreneurship category, Mr. Ranjit Acharya, CEO at Prisma Advertising was awarded for his contributions to the field of entrepreneurship. For the Science and Technology category, Ms. Priya Adhikari, Nepal’s lone female rescue helicopter pilot was honored for her risking her life every day to save the mountaineers.

Keeping up with the legacy of welcoming the country’s most influential CEOs/entrepreneurs to inspire the enthusiastic entrepreneurial minds of the country, Glocal Pvt. Ltd. has successfully concluded the eighth edition of ‘CEO Unplugged’ in 2023 on the same day at The Soaltee Kathmandu. With the main theme of ‘Today Meets Tomorrow’, 6 reputed entrepreneurs, 2 exceptional moderators, bureaucrats, and diplomats of the country marked their presence as the speakers on this year’s CEO Unplugged. More than 100 aspirants participated in this highly anticipated event to network, learn, and share their notions with the prominent entrepreneurs of the country.

There were two-panel discussions, and each discussion had a different exposure to Sustainability and Leadership. The panel discussions focused to introduce Sustainable businesses to young inspirations that operate in a way that is environmentally friendly and socially responsible, while also being financially viable and the framework of transformational leadership style that motivated youths to embrace change by cultivating a company culture of accountability, ownership, and workplace autonomy. CEO Unplugged was a platform to learn from renowned CEOs as they share their core knowledge, wisdom, strategy, and tactics in a company lifecycle which helps to gain a new perspective and discover emerging trends required to accelerate and sustain growth in Skills. The enthusiasts also got the chance of sharing some great conversations, resources, networks, and innovative ideas with renowned personalities.
