Issuing a condolence message today after the demise of Sherpa, Tourism Minister Bhattarai said that the late Sherpa has made an important contribution to Nepal’s identity at the international level. Minister Bhattarai paid a heartfelt tribute to the veteran mountaineer, also known as the ‘Snow Leopard’ and prayed for fortitude to the grief-stricken family. Angrita Sherpa passed away at the age of 72 at 11 am in Jorpati, Kathmandu on Monday. He holds the world record of the highest number of ascents on Mt Everest. Angrita had climbed the world’s highest mountain 10 times without the use of bottled oxygen. As per the decision of the Council of Ministers today, his funeral will be held with a state honour.
