The elephant was blind for three years due to an attack on its eyes and was as a result vandalizing local settlements and crops due to lack of vision. The Mechinagar Forest Office team and experts’ team coming from Chitwan National Park caught the elephant at Telpani Community Forest and provided treatment. According to veterinarian Dr Bijya Kumar Shrestha, the elephant had several injuries on its body part and was almost blind in its right eye due to the attack.
