CPN (Maoist-Center) to hold talks with Nepali Congress, JSP to form coalition govt

KATHMANDU – CPN (Maoist-Center) has decided to hold talks with Nepai Congress and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) to explore the possibility of forming a coalition government.

Talking to journalists after the standing committee meeting of the party today, CPN (Maoist-Center)’s spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that the party’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will hold dialogues with opposition parties to form the government.

Currently, the CPN (Maoist-Center) has its support to the CPN(UML)-led government. Though two parties went through a merger to become Nepal Communist Party (NCP), the Supreme Court on Sunday overturned the Election Commission’s decision to provide the name NCP to the merged party and scrapped their merger process.

As the relations between two factions led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Prachanda have soured, the CPN (Maoist-Center) is likely to withdraw its support to the government. According to Shrestha, the next meeting of the party’s standing committee will be held at 11 am On Wednesday.
