A by-election was held for the post today. Dr Devkota defeated ruling party CPN-UML’s Ram Bahadur Thapa by 5,088 votes against 4.014. The third candidate in the fray, Krishna Bahadur Tamang of Nepal Majdoor Kissan Party received 132 votes, according to the election office.
