A spokesperson from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that they have congratulated Karki on taking the oath as Nepal’s Prime Minister. When asked about China’s stance, the spokesperson said that China recognizes Karki’s appointment and reiterated that “China and Nepal share a long-standing friendship. China continues to respect the path of development freely chosen by the people of Nepal. We are ready to work with Nepal to promote the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, increase exchanges and cooperation in various sectors, and further strengthen bilateral relations.” Previously, India, the United States, and the United Nations had also congratulated Prime Minister Karki.
