गृहपृष्ठ ∕ Breaking ∕ Nepal human rights commission seeks clarification from RSP over alleged membership for minors Breaking Nepal human rights commission seeks clarification from RSP over alleged membership for minors KathmanduPati July 01, 2026 The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) sought clarification from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) on Tuesday over allegations that it distributed party membership to children below the age of 18. In a press note issued, the commission said it wrote to the party’s central office on Monday after receiving information alleging that the RSP had enrolled minors as party members. It said the move was prompted by information received by the commission as well as reports published by various media outlets. The commission said it had taken serious note of media reports claiming that children had been organised as party members. It also referred to a report that was allegedly presented at the party’s general convention which indicated that membership had been distributed to individuals under the age of 18. The NHRC said that if the party had indeed granted membership to children below 18, such an action would be contrary to prevailing Nepali law and Nepal’s international commitments. Citing Section 21(1) of the National Human Rights Commission Act, 2068, the commission has requested the RSP to provide detailed information at the earliest on whether party membership was distributed to minors.
