Kathmandu [Nepal], August 24 – Armed Police Force (APF) Inspector General Narayan Dutta Paudel has said the organisation will always support personnel who perform their duties with good intentions but will not take responsibility for misconduct committed by individuals with bad intentions.
Addressing unit chiefs of the APF in Lumbini Province during his inspection visit to APF No. 5 Bindhyabasini Brigade Headquarters in Rupandehi, Paudel urged personnel to put national and organisational interests above personal interests.
“We are soldiers of the state and have no room for mistakes,” Paudel said calling on personnel to carry out official directives accurately and responsibly.
He instructed APF units to make the best use of available resources during disasters and strengthen rescue, security and public service operations. He also directed personnel to closely study incidents of ethnic, regional and religious nature and coordinate with relevant agencies to respond effectively.
Paudel said serving the country through border security one of the APF’s key responsibilities was a matter of pride. He said controlling border crimes and ensuring border security remained among the organisation’s major priorities.
He urged personnel to view themselves as servants of the state and people rather than as authorities and to maintain cordial relations with border communities. He also stressed controlling illegal smuggling and helping increase government revenue while maintaining zero tolerance toward financial irregularities.
During the visit, Paudel also met the commander of APF No. 30 Bageshwori Battalion in Banke his Indian counterpart from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) the chief customs officer of the Jamunaha Customs Office and local representatives.
The meeting focused on managing border points and controlling border crimes and smuggling.
