Kathmandu [Nepal], August 24 – The Nepal army has conferred rank insignia on two newly promoted Major Generals and four Colonels during a ceremony held at the Army Headquarters in Kathmandu on Monday.
Chief of Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel presented the insignia to the promoted officers at the ceremony.
Brigadier Generals Drabyaram Bhandari and Dr Ranjit Thapa who were promoted to the rank of Major General on August 21 received their new rank insignia from General Sigdel.
Similarly four Lieutenant Colonels were promoted to the rank of Colonel and formally received the corresponding rank insignia according to the Nepal Army.
The ceremony was attended by senior army officers including generals and other officials as well as family members of the promoted officers.
The promotions and presentation of rank insignia mark the formal elevation of the officers to their new positions within the Nepal Army.
The ceremony was held as part of the army’s established practice of formally conferring rank insignia following promotions.
The Nepal Army did not provide further details on the new assignments of the promoted officers in its statement.
The promotion of the six officers comes as part of the routine career progression within Nepal’s military structure with the newly promoted Major Generals and Colonels expected to assume responsibilities associated with their respective ranks.
