Kathmandu [Nepal], August 26 – An emergency meeting of the Monsoon Response Command Post began at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday to assess the massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.
The meeting attended by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung is discussing the flood situation, potential risks and immediate rescue and security measures needed in affected areas.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Finance has coordinated with customs offices and other agencies on search and rescue efforts. The coordination involves Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Finance Secretary Dr. Ghanshyam Upadhyay, Customs Department Director General Yamlal Bhusal and senior ministry officials.
A major volume of floodwater entered the Bhotekoshi from the Tibet side prompting authorities to issue a high alert along the Trishuli River.
Residents in riverside areas have been urged to remain in safe locations as the flood could affect areas as far as Muglin.
The Flood Forecasting Division has also advised people in riverside areas of Trishuli in Nuwakot, Dhading and Chitwan to exercise extreme caution and avoid travel in vulnerable areas.
