Kathmandu [Nepal], August 26 – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke by phone with Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Wednesday and expressed condolences over the loss of life and property caused by severe flooding in Nepal.
Modi said on social media that he spoke with Shah and conveyed his condolences to those who lost their lives in the disaster.
He said the people of India stand in solidarity with their Nepali brothers and sisters during the difficult time.
Modi also assured Shah that India is ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to Nepal in response to the disaster.
According to Modi, relevant Indian teams are coordinating closely with Nepali authorities to support ongoing rescue and relief operations.
The conversation came as Nepal continues to deal with the impact of devastating floods in the Rasuwagadhi area, the Bhotekoshi River and downstream settlements.
The flooding has caused significant loss of life and property and damaged infrastructure in several areas.
Nepali authorities have intensified rescue and relief operations in the affected regions, while assistance from neighboring countries and international partners is being mobilized to support emergency response efforts.
