Kathmandu [Nepal], August 29 – Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Bhishmaraj Angdembe met Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Saturday to discuss the situation following the devastating floods in Nepal.
The meeting was held at the office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar where the two discussed the ongoing rescue and relief efforts and the situation in flood-affected areas.
Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadkaraj Poudel also attended the meeting.
Angdembe, along with a team had inspected flood-hit areas of Nuwakot on Friday. The team assessed the condition of flood victims and gathered information on rescue and relief operations in the affected areas.
He later briefed the prime minister on the situation and the findings from the field visit.
“Although the damage is extensive, the government is doing what it can. The government is carrying out rescue and relief operations according to its capacity” Angdembe said.
The meeting comes as authorities continue search, rescue and relief operations in several areas affected by the recent floods.
