Kathmandu [Nepal], August 27 – Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Thursday formed an Emergency Response Team (ERT) to coordinate search, rescue, information verification and consular assistance for foreign nationals affected by Wednesday’s flash floods in Rasuwa and Nuwakot.
The ministry said the team was established following reports of significant loss of life, infrastructure damage and missing persons, including foreign nationals in the flood-hit areas.
The ERT will serve as the ministry’s central coordinating body for facilitating search and rescue operations, verifying information and providing support to affected foreign nationals and their families.
Concerned relatives, diplomatic missions, international organisations and members of the public seeking information about missing or affected foreign nationals can contact the ERT through its Hotline or WhatsApp numbers, +977-9744441227 and +977-9744441228, between 7 am and 10 pm.
Information can also be sent by email to [email protected].
The ministry urged diplomatic missions, international organisations, families of missing persons and the public to use the designated channels to share information or seek assistance.
It also appealed to people to avoid circulating unverified reports and rely on official channels for updates as search, rescue and verification efforts continue in the flood-affected districts.
