गृहपृष्ठ ∕ Breaking ∕ Rescue efforts intensified to free trapped hydropower workers Breaking Rescue efforts intensified to free trapped hydropower workers KathmanduPati August 29, 2026 Kathmandu [Nepal], August 29 – Efforts have intensified to rescue people trapped inside the tunnel of the Trishuli ‘A’ hydropower project in Nepal with security personnel working to clear debris blocking the tunnel entrance. A joint team of 82 security personnel has been deployed for the operation. The team includes 62 members of the Nepali Army along with personnel from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police. Since Friday night, the security forces have been removing debris and moraine accumulated around the tunnel entrance in an effort to break through and reach those trapped inside. Adverse weather conditions in the area have further complicated the rescue operation, officials said. Meanwhile an Indian rescue team that arrived in Nepal to assist with the operation has reached the Trishuli area. The team is conducting aerial inspections of the Chilime and Langtang areas to assess conditions and plan its rescue efforts. Authorities are continuing to coordinate the operation as security forces work to clear the tunnel and reach the trapped individuals. Rescue teams are also assessing access routes and conditions in the surrounding areas before proceeding with further operations.
