UK, China respond to devastating Rasuwa flood

Kathmandu [Nepal], August 26 – The United Kingdom and China have expressed concern over a devastating flash flood that struck Rasuwa and other parts of Nepal on Wednesday morning.

The UK said it was deeply saddened by the disaster and extended its thoughts to people affected by the flooding. It also urged British nationals in Nepal to follow official guidance and exercise caution in areas affected by the disaster.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal activated its emergency response mechanism shortly after the flash flood struck the Rasuwa area along the China-Nepal border at around 9 am local time.

The embassy said it immediately assessed the situation of Chinese citizens and enterprises in the affected area and urged the Nepalese government and relevant agencies to step up rescue efforts.

It also issued a renewed safety reminder to Chinese citizens and institutions across Nepal advising them to remain alert and follow safety instructions as authorities respond to the disaster.
