Kathmandu [Nepal], September 3 – China has continued providing emergency assistance to Nepal following the devastating floods with Beijing also expanding technical cooperation for rescue and relief operations.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Thursday that Chinese meteorological and water resources authorities have been regularly sharing monitoring information with their Nepali counterparts.
China’s Meteorological Administration has also developed a special cloud version of its “Maju” system for Nepal which provides weather-related information to support rescue and relief operations in disaster-hit areas.
Guo said Nepal has expressed deep appreciation for China’s assistance describing it as a reflection of the close friendship between the two neighbouring countries.
Meanwhile, China sent a third batch of emergency relief supplies to Nepal on Thursday morning. The supplies include tents, blankets, body-storage refrigerators, medical protective clothing and satellite communication equipment.
A second team of Chinese DNA identification experts also arrived in Nepal on the same flight. The experts will assist Nepali authorities in identifying people killed or reported missing in the disaster.
Guo said China would continue providing emergency assistance based on Nepal’s needs and maintain international rescue cooperation in the coming days.
