Nepal beat Malaysia by six wickets in ACC Premier Cup


Kathmandu [Nepal], September 3 – Nepal secured their second consecutive victory in the ACC Premier Cup ODI tournament defeating hosts Malaysia by six wickets on Thursday.

After winning the toss and choosing to field, Nepal bowled Malaysia out for 103 in 32.3 overs. Nepal reached 106 for four in 21 overs to complete the chase.

Opener Arjun Kumal anchored the innings with an unbeaten 45 off 68 balls including four boundaries. Ishan Pandey scored 20 while Dipendra Singh Airee and captain Rohit Kumar Paudel contributed 12 and 10 respectively. Aasif Sheikh was dismissed from the first ball.

Karan KC led Nepal’s bowling attack with four wickets for 23 runs in seven overs including two maidens. Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi took two wickets while Sandeep Lamichhane, Hemant Dhami and Airee claimed one each.

Captain Syed Aziz top-scored for Malaysia with 30 while Akil Wahid made 24.

Nepal had opened their campaign with a seven-wicket win over Bahrain and now lead the group with four points from two matches.
