Kathmandu [Nepal], September 12 – The Foundation for Peace, Development and Socialism (FPDS) will organise the third edition of the two-day Kasthamandap Dialogue in Kathmandu on September 12 and 13 focusing on expanding cooperation between Nepal and China.
The dialogue themed “Nepal-China Relations: Expanding Horizons of Cooperation,” marks the 71st anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
According to FPDS, the dialogue aims to revive Kasthamandap’s historical role as a centre of trans-Himalayan trade and cultural exchange by providing a contemporary platform for discussions.
Former Prime Minister and FPDS Patron Jhala Nath Khanal, Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming will deliver keynote addresses at the inaugural session.
The two-day programme will feature five thematic sessions covering regional and international developments, party-building and governance, geopolitics, trade, connectivity, climate resilience, cross-border disaster risk reduction, cultural exchanges and youth engagement.
Around 200 participants including political leaders, diplomats, scholars, strategic analysts, journalists, civil society representatives and youth leaders are expected to attend.
Representatives from Sichuan University, Wuhan University and Xizang Minzu University as well as academics from Nepali universities will participate.
FPDS Secretary Shankar Khatiwada said the dialogue would facilitate factual and in-depth discussions and help shape strategic decisions guided by Nepal’s national interests.
