US Embassy appoints Megan Boldin acting ambassador to Nepal

Kathmandu [Nepal], September 8 – The US Embassy in Nepal has appointed Megan Boldin as acting US ambassador to Nepal for the next few months, the embassy said on Tuesday.

According to a statement posted on Facebook, Boldin will work with Deputy Chief of Mission Scott Urbom to coordinate the embassy’s relief and recovery efforts following the floods in Nepal.

Supporting US citizens affected by the floods will be among her priorities the embassy said.

Boldin previously served as deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy in Bangladesh a position she had held since August 2024.

A career member of the US Senior Foreign Service, Boldin has extensive experience in crisis management, diplomacy and leadership. She has previously served in Ukraine, Iraq, Bangladesh and at the Operations Center in Washington.

The embassy said Boldin’s arrival in Nepal during ongoing relief and recovery efforts would further strengthen the US commitment to working with the Nepal government and its partners.
