Kathmandu [Nepal], October 5 – Nepal Army chief Ashok Raj Sigdel has departed for the United Kingdom on Monday for a seven-day official visit at the invitation of his British counterpart, Chief of the General Staff General Sir Roly Walker, Nepal Army spokesperson Brigadier General Rajaram Basnet told Kathmandupati.
Sigdel is scheduled to hold meetings with Walker and other senior British military officials during his visit, according to the Nepal Army.
The visit, from October 5 to 11, will be Sigdel’s first trip to the UK since taking charge as Nepal’s Army chief.
Sigdel’s UK visit comes less than two weeks after he returned from China, where he was on an official visit from September 13 to 19.
During his China visit, Sigdel held a courtesy meeting with Chinese Defence Minister Dong Jun and senior military officials. He also visited China’s National Defence University, where he was briefed on its activities and academic programmes, and attended the opening session of the 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum in Beijing.
Sigdel is scheduled to return to Nepal on October 11 after completing his UK visit.
