Kathmandu [Nepal], October 7 – Nepal Prime Minister’s Balendra Shah and Rastriya Swatantra Party chair Rabi Lamichhane on Wednesday congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as the head of government, highlighting the close ties between Nepal and India.
The Nepal PMO extended “warm congratulations & best wishes” to Modi on the milestone, wishing him and his government “continued success and prosperity in the years ahead.”
Rabi Lamichhane, chair of Nepal’s Rastriya Swatantra Party also congratulated Modi, praising India’s progress under his leadership and calling the country’s “transformative journey and rapid progress” inspiring.
Lamichhane highlighted the shared history and cultural ties between the two countries, saying Nepal and India have an “enduring bond” rooted in “shared history, deep cultural affinities and close people-to-people ties.”
“On behalf of Rastriya Swatantra Party and myself, we look forward to working together to make this partnership even stronger and more prosperous for both our nations,” Lamichhane said.
Modi became chief minister of India’s Gujarat state on October 7, 2001, and remained in the post until May 2014, when he became prime minister. He has since led the central government through three consecutive terms.
Modi received congratulatory messages from leaders around the world on Wednesday as he completed 25 years as the head of government. Leaders highlighted his political leadership, India’s development and efforts to strengthen the country’s position on the global stage.
