Nepal PM Balen Shah expected to visit India in Mid-November

Kathmandu [Nepal], October 17 – Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah is expected to visit India in the second week of November although the dates have not yet been officially confirmed, Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal said on Friday.

Speaking to journalists, Khanal said the visit was likely to take place around the period reported by various media outlets but stressed that the government had not finalised the schedule.

“We have not officially confirmed the dates as of today,” Khanal said.

He added that the government had maintained regular communication with India since taking office and hoped the visit would produce concrete outcomes.

Nepal expects progress on trade and transit, connectivity, energy and border-related issues during the visit, Khanal said.

The visit is also expected to include the inauguration and foundation-laying of major infrastructure and hydropower projects, along with the signing of various agreements.

The trip will be Shah’s first visit to India since he assumed office on March 26 marking an important diplomatic engagement between the neighbouring countries.

The two governments are expected to finalise the visit’s schedule through further discussions.
