Police have sought an integrated mechanism involving banks, telecommunications companies and other relevant agencies to improve responses to cyber scams, a senior police official informed. Police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General Abi Narayan Kafle said the ministry had responded positively and had begun corresponding with concerned agencies. Earlier efforts were stalled by budgetary constraints. The need for the centre comes as cyber fraud continues to cause substantial financial losses. Police data show that victims lost more than Rs 2 billion in the last fiscal year but only around Rs 180 million was recovered. Of 20,000 cybercrime complaints registered during the period approximately 7,500 involved financial fraud. Police say only about eight percent of money lost to cyber scams has been recovered over the past three years. Comments 0 Share your view on this story. Please keep it civil and respectful.
