
KATHMANDU – Minister for Youth and Sports, Maheshwor Jung Gahatraj, has called for continuously making the sports sector active and dynamic.
At the oath-taking ceremony of newly appointed members of National Sports Council, Minister Gahatraj directed the newly appointed members to work utilizing the challenges of sports sector as an opportunity.
As per the ministerial-level decision on Thursday, Mohammad Fazil (Kathmandu), Lama Pema Dolma (Makawanpur), Janak Prasad Bartaula (Makawanpur), Dipendra Bista (Bardiya), Prakash Kumar Kusari (Rukum), Bina Nabachhe Shrestha (Bhaktapur), Anjana Dhamala (Gorkha) and Shreeman Thapa Magar (Banke) were appointed as NSC members.
On the occasion, he opined, “It is necessary to be active and dynamic to achieve results expected by the state and to improve the sports sector by removing wrongdoings took place in the past.”
Similarly, Secretary at the Youth and Sports Ministry, Dr Damodar Sharma, suggested the newly appointed members of the NSC to involve in development of sports sector.
He said, “We have both opportunity and challenge. We have to compete in international sports competition. The Council should carryout activities as per the government’s vision and directives for the same.” Before this, the Sports Minister had administered oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed NSC members at the meeting hall of the Ministry.
