Narayan Dahal of the CPN (Maoist Centre) filed his candidacy on behalf of the ruling alliance while Yubraj Sharma of the Nepali Congress (NC) is from the opposition. As per the NA Chair election schedule, candidacy for the NA Chairman should be filed from 11:00 am to 13:00 pm today. The NA is electing its chairman on Tuesday. Gopi Bahadur Achhami of the CPN (Maoist Centre) has proposed the candidacy of Dahal while Devendra Dahal of CPN (UML), Beduram Bhusal of CPN (Unified Socialist) and Mohammad Khalid of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal have seconded Dahal’s bid for NA Chair. Likewise, NC’s Ananda Prasad Dhungana has proposed Sharma as the NA Chair while NC’s Kiran Babu Shrestha and Kishor Kumar Singh of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party Nepal have seconded Sharma’s candidacy. The post of NA Chair is vacant after the tenure of then Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina ended last week.
