KATHMANDU – Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has pointed out the need of comprehensive discussions regarding whether to suspend any person or not until the court decides on corruption case.
In course of discussion on the bill designed to amend Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 in today’s meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives, Chair Dahal expressed the view that it would be appropriate to amend the act not to repeat the problems seen earlier in this regard.
“It is necessary to revise the acts asking suggestions with other experts if possible”, he shared. Chair Dahal added, “As soon as the case is filed at the court, official is suspended. But it is necessary how to deal with the situation if the court does not find the accused guilty. So serious attention should be paid in this regard.”
The issue of compensation during the period is complex, so the act should address this situation, he explained. The CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair stressed the need of reaching to conclusion by holding discussion whether or not to determine statute of limitation regarding investigation of corruption case. He laid emphasis on the need of making the Prevention of Corruption Act timely.
