KATHMANDU – President of Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rabi Lamichhane, has said there shall be no time limit for investigating against alleged cases of corruption.
Demanding time in a meeting of the House of Representatives today, Lamichhane, the lawmaker from Chitwan, expressed his concern over the proposed five-year time limit for corruption probe in the Bill to amend the Prevention of Corruption Act- 2059 BS (2002).
It is crystal clear that any provision of statute of limitation for corruption investigation will not be acceptable for the party. He also wanted the government to further clarify the definition of a ‘policy corruption’ in the Bill.
Similarly, Roshan Karki of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) said her party is clear that anyone responsible for corruption must be held accountable. “Three shall be no excuse for corrupt and no time limit for investigating corruption.”
Shakti Bahadur Basnet said settlements in 82 percent areas in the country have been hit by natural disasters, demanding the government ensure temporary housing facility for earthquake survivors in Jajarkot district.
Lawmakers Sumana Shrestha, Raj Kishor Yadav, Sushila Thing, Saraswoti Bajimaya, Ram Kumar Rai, Amresh Kumar Singh, Shankar Bhandari, Prem Bahadur Maharjan, Ishwor Bahadur Rijal, Maina Karki, Abdul Khan, and Ramhari Khatiwada drew the government’s attention towards the need for effective disaster management and mitigation of the risk for traffic accidents.
