KATHMANDU : Monsoon will become active in the eastern and central regions of the country for several more days due to the influence of the low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.
Meteorologist Manju Basi said that monsoon is not likely to exit from the country for a week more. According to her, although the monsoon will not disappear one week from now, there is no possibility of continuous heavy rainfall. Last year, too, the monsoon season had ended on October 12, a bit later than the normal period. Meteorologists estimate that this year it will last until October 12. The normal time for monsoon’s exit is September 23.
The weather is partly to generally cloudy in State 1, State 2, Gandaki State and Bagmati State while it is partly cloudy in rest of the provinces. It will be generally cloudy in State 1, State 2, Bagmati State and Gandaki State with the possibility of light rain at some places of State 1 and 2 as well as one or two places of Bagmati State and Gandaki State tonight.
As per the weather update shared by the Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley was 17.8 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature was 28.7 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. Similarly, the lowest temperature of 7.0 degrees Celsius throughout the country was recorded in Jumla while the highest temperature of 34.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Nepalgunj.
