State-1’s virus recovery rate 27 percent lower than national average

KATHMANDU :  The recovery rate of COVID-19 pandemic patients in State-1 is less than the national average. The current recovery rate in the State is 27 percent less than the national average.

According to the latest data available from the Corona Information Desk of the State-1 Government, 2,252 out of 5,693 coronavirus patients, have been discharged after recovering from the disease, which is around 44.83 percent.
According to worldometers.info, which tracks data from every country, Nepal’s recovery rate is more than 72 percent. Out of the total 65,276 infected as of Tuesday morning, 47,238 have recovered, which is close to 72.36 percent.

The death rate of State-1 is higher than the national average, where 56 patients have succumbed to the deadly disease, tallying the total to 0.983 percent. On the national level, the death rate is at 0.6541 percent. As of Tuesday morning, 427 patients have passed away due to COVID-19 in Nepal.

State health officials have not made a formal conclusion about factors behind the State’s lower recovery rate and higher death rate compared to the national average. However, speaking to RSS over the phone a few weeks ago, Chief of Public Health Division at the Social Development Ministry in State-1, Dr Suresh Mehta had said that it was not time to draw conclusions.
