SYANGJA : The office of the Chapakot Municipality in Syangja district has been shut down except for essential services after 14 people tested positive for the coronavirus in a single day on Tuesday.
The Municipality made the decision to curb the spread of COVID-19 at the community level. It has urged everyone to remain alert. Among the 14 cases of COVID-19 reported on Tuesday, 10 were in men and four in women.
Of those infected, one was availing treatment in Pokhara while the rest were receiving treatment at local health facilities, informed District Health Office Chief Yam Prasad Sharma.
In a press statement issued today, Mayor Shiva Kumar Giri has appealed to everyone to adopt all the precautionary measures against the deadly virus.
The municipality is coordinating efforts with the state and federal government for the prevention and control of COVID-19, as well as to treat those infected. The office is closed until further notice. Shops selling food items, pharmacies and health facilities will remain open during this period, read the statement.
