Three more succumbs to COVID-19 in Jhapa


JHAPA – Three people succumbed to COVID-19 in Jhapa district this morning. Three men from Damak Municipality, Kamal Rural Municipality and Gauradaha Municipality succumbed to the disease.

The health section at Damak Municipality recorded the death of a 50-year-old man from Damak-7. He died while receiving treatment at Noble Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar. He had tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday. With this, Damak Municipality alone has recorded 16 COVD-19 related deaths.

Similarly, a 72-year-old man from Kamal Rural Municipality-5 died at his own residence. He was suffering from kidney disease. The number of those dying in home isolation has reached three in the rural municipality, according to Chairperson Menuka Kafle.

A 74-year-old man from Milan Chowk of Gauradaha-4 also died in home isolation. Health section chief at Gauradah Municipality, Govinda Shrestha, informed that his is the sixth death related to COVID-19 in the municipality. The latest fatalities have taken the death toll in Jhapa district to 43.
