Indian Ambassador Kwatra gets Covid vaccine manufactured in India

Read what he said after receiving first vaccine jab

KATHMANDU – Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra has received Covid-19 vaccine. According to Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, Indian Ambassador Kwatra took the first dose of Covishield, Indian- manufactured Covid vaccine, at TU Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj on Sunday.

After receiving the first dose of the vaccine provided by his own government, Indian Ambassador said that he wants to convey his best wishes for Covid19-free and healthy Nepal.

Nepal is inoculating front line workers in the first phase of the nationwide vaccination drive. Earlier last month, the Indian government gifted 1 million doses of vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India last week.

In a brief interview to Indian news channel ANI, Indian Ambassador Kwatra said that the effective and efficient rollout of vaccines is a matter of satisfaction.

What Ambassador Kwatra told ANI after receiving the jab?

I feel absolutely delighted because the vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India or Made in India vaccine has finally been able to reach Nepal.

It is an enormous relief from the pandemic because it’s a great vehicle for the confidence among the people that we are finally moving towards Covid-free Nepal.

This is the only way out of the pandemic not just for the people of Nepal, but also for the global community. I am delighted that the Made in India vaccine has been the frontline and the biggest contributor to this global effort in relieving the global suffering from this pandemic.

I am also happy that as part of India’s neighborhood first policy, vaccines were one of the earliest things to be supplied to the neighbors and Nepal was among the earliest countries to receive the vaccine.

Nepal, as part of India’s neighborhood first policy, was one of the earliest countries to receive the vaccines. Its very effective and efficient rollout of vaccine in Nepal which I think is a matter of satisfaction for everybody who wants to see Covid-free Nepal, economy recovered and people moving toward healthy and happy life.
