KATHMANDU – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been vaccinated against coronavirus under the second phase vaccination drive that kicked off today. PM Oli and his spouse Radhika Shakya took ‘Covishield’ at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital today.
The nationwide vaccination drive of second phase kicked off with the PM getting himself shot against the virus. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Health and Population Minister Hridayesh Tripathi and Industry, Commerce and Supplies Minister Lekhraj Bhatta reached the TUTH to take vaccines.
Talking to media after the vaccination, the PM urged one and all to contribute to making the campaign successful. He urged people to take vaccine without any doubt as it is safe. Meanwhile, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa visited the Balambu-based Armed Police Hospital to take the vaccine.
The government targets to administer the anti-Covid-19 vaccines to 72 percent of the total population. In the first phase, 1.4 percent population was vaccinated. Prior to this, the government had got one million doses of vaccine on grants from the government of India and already procured the one million doses of vaccines.
Similarly, one million doses are in the process of import from India. The 20-day long second phase drive targets the citizens above 65 years of age.
